Coordinator for Civil Society Issues

Botkyrka Municipality is the sixth largest municipality in Stockholm County and consists of the districts of Alby, Fittja, Hallunda, Norsborg, Tullinge, Tumba, Vårsta, and Grödinge. Botkyrka Municipality has approximately 95,000 residents and over 6,400 employees.

The Municipal Executive Office is responsible for governance, management, and coordination within the municipality. We contribute to making visions and political decisions a reality. We are about 275 employees with specialist knowledge in areas such as economics, procurement, HR, communication, development and administration, digitalization, law, place development, and safety and security issues.

The Position and Responsibilities

As a coordinator for civil society issues, you will play a central role in developing and coordinating collaboration between the municipality and civil society.

You will work to create long-term and sustainable relationships and collaboration structures that strengthen the role of civil society in society and improve the municipality's work with external actors.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • developing and coordinating strategies for collaboration between the municipality and civil society, including mapping needs and opportunities for collaboration
  • working to build relationships and maintaining continuous dialogue with civil society actors to ensure long-term trust and effective communication channels
  • in collaboration with safety and security coordinators, strengthening and maintaining civil society's ability to handle crises and preparedness situations
  • in collaboration with safety and security coordinators, strengthening and developing civil society's role in safety promotion and crime prevention work
  • coordinating and supporting the municipality's administrations in areas where civil society can play an important role, with the aim of strengthening its significance through collaboration. The work is conducted in close dialogue with all administrations to complement and support existing collaborations
  • ensuring that civil society's perspective is integrated into the municipality's environmental analysis and decision-making processes
  • in collaboration with other administrations, offering support and training to civil society actors, focusing on areas such as financial management of grants and collaboration with the municipality
  • inventing and developing civil society forums and following up to ensure that goals and measures related to collaboration are updated and relevant

In this role, you will have the opportunity to influence and contribute to sustainable development of collaboration between the municipality and civil society. You will be an important actor in creating conditions for effective cooperation and long-term community development.

We Offer You

You will become part of an engaged and competent workgroup within Safety and Security, a unit that currently consists of 13 employees and a unit manager. The workgroup includes area strategists, safety and security coordinators, and a business strategist. The unit works closely with the sister unit Violence Prevention Center, creating a dynamic and stimulating work environment where collaboration and common goals are in focus.

You Who Are Applying to Us

To be successful in this role, we see that you have a relevant university degree in social sciences, project management, public administration, or another area that we deem relevant. You have solid experience in coordinating collaborations and are used to working in a politically governed organization. You have documented experience in analyzing and understanding civil society actors, their needs and resources, and can apply this knowledge to create effective collaborations. Furthermore, you have excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and the ability to communicate clearly and accurately with both internal and external parties.

We consider it an advantage if you have:

  • Experience working with crisis and preparedness issues or safety issues, preferably within public administration.
  • Experience in applying for financial resources and grants, as well as knowledge of relevant application processes.
  • Previous work in a politically governed organization, where you have managed complex collaborations.
  • Experience in environmental monitoring and analysis, as well as the ability to translate this information into practical work.
  • Knowledge of digital tools for collaboration and project management.
  • Experience in conducting training or providing support to external actors.

The personal competencies required for the role are that you are structured, meaning you have the ability to plan and organize your work effectively, manage multiple parallel tasks, and keep track of complex processes. You are analytical and have the ability to quickly understand and analyze both the needs of civil society and the municipality to make well-founded decisions that lead to effective collaborations. Finally, you are collaborative, which means you enjoy working together with others, building long-term relationships, and ensuring that all parties feel heard and engaged in collaboration.
